Satellite events and optional congress tours Wednesday June 13th Satellite event, Singing for health

A singing event will take place in connection with the 2007 Congress under the firm command of Tiri Bergesen Schei, who is a singer, teacher and choir conductor, currently finishing her PhD on vocal identity formation. This is a choir seminar intended for congress participants with some experience as singers.
The GP 2007 Nordic Choir Singing Seminar: a satellite event for experienced singers, Wednesday June 13th
This satellite seminar starts by ‘distance learning’ in early May 2007. Registered participants will be sent music either as notes or as recordings of songs. Participants must know whether they are sopranos, altos, tenors or basses, and preferably be able to decipher music notation. Practice and co-ordination of the GP 2007 Choir starts Wednesday June 13th punctually at 09.00 at Neskirkja (Neskirkja-church), located 100 metres from the congress venue, Háskólabíó & Radisson SAS Hotel Saga in Reykjavik. At 11.30 a.m. the GP choir will travel by bus to the historical place Skálholt, a former seat of The Icelandic Bishop about 75 minutes drive from Reykjavik through beautiful landscape. After a light lunch and sightseeing in Skálholt, the choir will rehearse in the Church at Skálholt (renowned for its beautiful acoustics) and return to Reykjavik in due time for the Get-together party. The choir’s training will continue Friday from 17.00-18.00. The GP 2007Choir’s Grand finale will be a performance during the banquet Friday evening at Hotel Iceland’s famous Broadway scene.
Since the participants will contribute to the festivities of the gala dinner, the price per person for singing lessons/rehearsals (including the tour to Skálholt with bus and lunch) will be kept at only IKR 3000. The participants are however expected to register for the Dinner and dance banquet on Friday evening as ordinary participants. In case there are accompanying persons (with singing experience as described above) who would like to participate in the singing seminar together with their GP partner, they are welcome. This must however be clearly noted on the registration form. Please see the registration form for further details.
