The 15th Nordic Congress of General Practice will be held at Háskólabíó Congress Center, Reykjavik,  June 13th – 16th  2007.

Language

The official language of the conference is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

CME credentials

This Congress is equivalent to 19.5 credit hours 

Currency

The official currency is Icelandic Crown (ISK). On December 11th 2006  the exchange rate of the ISK was as follows:

DKK = 12,34 ISK
NOK = 11,34 ISK
SEK = 10,16 ISK
EUR = 92,06 ISK
GBP = 136,07 ISK
USD = 69,75 ISK

Currency exchange

Foreign currency can be exchanged at all banks, which will also advance cash against all major credit cards. Cash can also be obtained against these cards in all banks, ATMs are to be found in many places. Banking hours are from 09:15-16:00, Monday to Friday. The Change group at the tourist information centre, Bankastræti 2, is open daily, May-September from 08:30-20:00

Credit cards

Commonly accepted cards in hotels, shops, restaurants and at the registration desk at Háskólabíó Congress Center are: Visa, MasterCard and EuroCard.

TaxFree shopping in Iceland

Almost all shops in Iceland offer Tax-Free shopping for travelers through VAT refunds.  On leaving Iceland travelers can reclaim around 15% of the retail price of goods purchased.  To qualify for a refund, a minimum purchase of ISK 4.000 (including VAT) must be made in a single Tax-Free store.

Shopping hours

Shops are generally open from 9 am to 6 pm from Monday to Friday, and some from 9 am to noon on Saturdays. Souvenir and hotel shops often have extended hours. Newsagents or kiosks selling magazines, tobacco and sweets are usually open until 11:30 pm daily. Banks are open from 9:15 am to 4 pm from Monday to Friday. The bank in the terminal at Keflavík Airport is open when planes are being serviced.

Registration is available at this website under registration and should be used to register for the meeting, the social program, and for hotel reservations. Various excursions can also be reserved in advance. Registration and information

The conference organizer, Meeting Iceland, will be located at the Háskólabíó Congress Center and will provide you with travel and congress information during the congress. The Registration and Information desk will be open during the meeting.

Registration fee


If  payment  is received;
Before March 15th 2007    49.000 kr.
After March 15th 2007      60.000 kr.

Accompaying persons  6.000 kr. - included Get-together Party and Opening Ceremony


Accommodation and confirmation

The conference organizer, Meeting Iceland, arranges for hotel accommodation for participants. The organizer has pre-reserved rooms at a special conference price at the official hotels for the congress. Hotel reservations should be made on the registration form, and are booked on “first come – first served” basis. Meeting Iceland reserves the right to book another hotel if the desired accommodation is no longer available. Hotel accommodation cannot be confirmed until Meeting Iceland has received a deposit as a guarantee for the hotel booking.

Transport from conference hotels

Transport is provided from all conference hotels to Haskolabio conference
center, prior to and after the conference every day.

Transport

Transport to and from Keflavik airport: The Fly bus service between Keflavík airport and hotels is coordinated with international flights departures and arrivals. Taxi service is also provided at the airport. Fly bus fare: ISK 1.200.-, Taxi fare approx: ISK 9.000.-

Public transport

Buses no. 3, 4, 6, 12 and 14 stop near Háskólabíó. The fare is ISK 250.- and you require exact change. Taxis are available outside all hotels, and in the city center at a reasonable price.

Payment details


Payment of the registration fee and excursions should be made in advance by:

1.    VISA, EURO and Master credit cards.
    Please indicate card number, expiry date and amount on the registration form.
2.    Payment can also be made by bank transfer into our bank account:

    Please state your FULL name and the name of the Meeting “GP 2007”

After having received the payment, Meeting Iceland will send you a confirmation of your reservation and payment.

Cancellation terms

Notification of cancellation must be confirmed in writing. Cancellation of registration received before May 13th 2007 will be refunded less an administrative fee of ISK 6.000. After that time no refund may be expected. In case of cancellation of specific items (i.e. tours, accommodation, etc.) that have already been paid for, the amount will be refunded less a bank cost of ISK 2.000. All refunds will be processed after the conference.
